GP Management of Patient
Depression & Suicidality
Developed by the Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA) Regional Training Hub in partnership with UWA’s Suicide Prevention and Resilience Research Centre (SPARRC), and commissioned by WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA).

This CPD-accredited course has been designed to enhance the skills of GPs in managing depression and suicidality.

Designed by RCSWA GPs, in collaboration with Dr Mat Coleman (Psychiatrist), and with input from psychiatrists, psychologists, an Aboriginal mental health specialist, and people with lived experience, the course is made up of six modules:
  1. Recognition and assessment of depression
  2. Interventions for effective treatment
  3. Suicidality, suicide risk assessment and prevention
  4. Groups requiring special consideration
  5. GP wellbeing and supports
  6. Practice resources, clinical practice guidelines, and local resources
The modules have been designed to ensure they are fit-for-purpose, accessible, and easy to navigate.

CPD Hours: to record your participation, a certificate is available for download at the end of the modules. Once you have registered, you will be enrolled into the online modules. Please note this may take up to 48 hours. For more information contact us at: hubs-training@rcswa.edu.au
